So this is the bit where I tell you who I am and… stuff, I’ll try and keep it short.

I was born on the 18th of November 1981 in Bedford, England

I went to several schools over the years most of them completely uninspiring. Late in my middle school career was pretty much the first time I got into computers with those amusing Acorn computers, previous to that I had only ever really used one of those BBC computers to play Granny’s Garden, but the Acorns where revolutionary, you could write things and save them to floppy disk and we even had a BBS so that we could chat to the person next to us!

While I had been going to middle school afterwards I had been going to De Montfort University as my mother worked there, that was my first time of using a real PC properly other than to play Doom. I begged and pleaded with my parents to get me a PC and in November 1995 for my Birthday I was given a Viglen P100 and a new fangled operating system called Windows 95.

After leaving school with the required GCSE – sans revision – I went to Bedford College for a BTEC National Diploma in IT. Problem seemed to be that when designing the course they forgot to put a single piece of useful information in to it. I was not impressed, pretty much skipped most of it and handed the course work in at the end to gain the qualification. Perhaps it’s been revamped since I did it, I don’t know and I don’t care to go back to college to find out.

College was probably the reason I never went to university and went straight in to work at the IT centric profession of… warehouse assistant, I did that job for about 2 more years before moving on to my first IT job. I think I learnt more in the first week there than I did in the 2 years at college. I worked there for 2 years before on Christmas Eve I got an email while I was sitting watching Christmas TV that the company had gone bankrupt.

Couple of months later I got a new job at planning company in Bedford and have been there now for about 4 years during which time I’ve run the IT department single-handedly for several months while they have recruited new managers. Job covers pretty much everything, Servers, Desktops, Laptops anything that runs on electricity really. I’m currently studying to do my MCSE which should be interesting.

Why have a blog, well why not? I can rant and whinge on here and nobody has to read it! I thought also about doing a few reviews of things.
